Help When You Need It Most
One of our founding purposes was the "benefit of the poor" in Wrestlingworth. Today, we continue this mission by offering small grants to residents experiencing poverty, sickness, destitution, or sudden difficulty—particularly the elderly and vulnerable.
Who Can Apply?
You live in the Ancient Parish of Wrestlingworth
Applicants must be residents within the original parish boundaries. If you're unsure whether your address qualifies, please contact us.
You're facing temporary hardship
We help with unexpected expenses due to illness, job loss, bereavement, heating costs, essential repairs, or other sudden difficulties.
You need practical, short-term assistance
Our grants are modest but meaningful—designed to ease immediate pressure, not provide long-term income support.
Priority for elderly residents
While we consider all applications, we give particular attention to older residents who may be isolated or on fixed incomes.
What We Fund
Our grants are intended to address real, immediate needs. We have helped residents with:
- Emergency heating or fuel costs during winter
- Essential household repairs (boiler, plumbing, electrical)
- Medical equipment or mobility aids
- Funeral expenses for those bereaved
- Clothing or bedding replacements after hardship
- Food or utility bills during temporary financial difficulty
Each application is considered individually by the trustees, who meet regularly to review requests with compassion and discretion.

If your application is approved, we'll arrange payment directly to you or to the supplier (e.g., utility company, tradesperson). Most requests are processed within two weeks.
